The tidal river has not yet frozen solid, but soon the entire scene will be a snowy field! This Encaustic Painting is inspired by the many Estuaries that dot the miles of coastline in Maine and the Ravens that are always present.

The Birch Forest with a Crow in the Field is an everyday scene. This time of year the golden color is everywhere. In the grasses, leaves and the reflections of light. I walk most every day and am able to enjoy all of the countryside along the way.

Encaustic is a medium that plays with the light. I did not use the heatgun to blowout the background on "The Perched Raven", giving this piece an entirely different look than most of my pieces.
This is the time of year when the weather is changing, the leaves are turning colors and the light is rich and almost smokey. Autumn. Soon the quiet, cold and dark months will be upon us. Stay tuned. Black Birds are so fun to watch, paint, sketch and draw, in any season.
